PAST

After graduating from UC San Diego with a B.S. in Computer Science in 2019, I moved to Japan, where I spent two years teaching English to the approximately 1,500 students attending the five different middle schools in Joyo City, Kyoto. When the world entered a health crisis, I started to wonder how someone with my skillset might be able to change the way we learn so that education would never have to be put on hold again — and so that remote learning could be both more effective and more fun! That curiosity brought me to NYU’s Integrated Design and Media Master’s program. In my time at IDM, I enjoyed electives covering a wide range of topics, from designing whimsical visuals for card games to building prototypes of amusement park rides. For my thesis, I created a VR sandbox game that reimagines music education and composition.

PRESENT

I am currently seeking both technical and creative opportunities. With my professional experience as a software developer, a game developer, an educator, and a storyteller, as well as my academic training as a computer scientist and a designer, I believe that I can bring a rather unique perspective to any team. Having worked abroad, I am also very comfortable in diverse teams and can communicate fairly well in Japanese.

My primary career aspiration is to use technology to create experiences (games, rides, installations, apps, etc.) that can tell powerful stories and/or help people learn. I also quite enjoy using my technical skills to assist non-technical creatives in bringing the worlds they have envisioned to life. As much as I love telling my own stories, I find great joy in helping others to make their dreams a reality.

Anyway, thank you for stopping by and reading all this! Whether you’re a friend who just felt like checking out my website or a potential employer/coworker who wanted to learn more about me, I hope to hear from you soon :)
