The goal of this assignment was to transform an existing card game by coming up with an entirely new theme and aesthetic design! I chose to base my card deck off of a wonderful game called Unstable Unicorns. The resulting deck continues the cute fantasy visual theme that I developed in the process of creating my midterm project for this class. As someone who has always insisted that she “can’t” draw, I was really proud of the art I made for that midterm project, so I wanted to both make more art in that style and also find a use for some of the draft sketches I wasn’t able to use before. I am really excited about the ultimate outcome of this final project; it is visually my favorite of my projects!

Check out the Figma prototype here. The home page has a few clickable buttons along the bottom, which allow you to explore the different types of cards. (Those buttons make use of Figma’s “on hover” feature and unfortunately do not work on mobile.) The dragon is a button, too; she will take you to a page that discusses my inspiration a bit more! Additionally, if you click on the "Play" button (the floating castle), you will be presented with a character selection screen. Selecting the princess will allow you to proceed to the gameplay screen, and that has a few clickable pieces as well (Figma will highlight what is clickable if you click on an empty space).

Lastly, I’d just like to point out that I refer to the cards in play as a player’s “castle,” which is why each card looks like a castle window! I thought that was kind of a nifty design choice.
