The Mouse Gods &
Their Sacred Trees

NYU IDM: Virtual Production, Final Project

Technologies Used? Unreal Engine 5, Blender, Marvelous Designer, Mixamo, MotionBuilder, Max/MSP, Arturia
Skills Used? Visual/Node-Based Programming, Virtual Cinematography, Show Control, Character Design, Imagination
People Involved? This was a solo task, but the overarching project was a collaboration involving all 18 (including me) VPD students, as well as our wonderful professor!
Professor: Todd Bryant
When? November/December 2022

The final project in Professor Bryant’s Virtual Production class is a collaborative project in which he and his eighteen students all work together to create a virtual film! I was responsible for designing characters known as the “Mouse Gods,” as well as their sacred trees. I also programmed some show control so that the facial expressions of the Mouse Gods could be altered in real time during our filming. Those facial expressions were controlled via knobs on a midi controller, which sent data to Max/MSP that was then forwarded to Unreal Engine 5.
